What to have ready
None of this is required to call. It just makes the first conversation far more useful.
- The address, and roughly when the building went up. The pre-1987 line decides whether an asbestos assessment sits ahead of your permit.
- What is coming out, even loosely. Walls, ceilings, floors, a kitchen, a whole apartment, a whole house.
- What the walls and floors are made of, if you know. Plaster on lath and drywall on studs are very different jobs.
- How material can leave. A driveway, a side door, a garage, a service elevator and the hours management releases it, a stair.
- Whether anyone is staying in the house, the apartment or the surrounding floors while the work happens.
- Your alteration agreement, if it is a co-op or condo. It answers most of the scheduling questions on its own.
- Any date you have to hit, and what is driving it.
If you do not know some of these, that is normal, and it is part of what a walk-through is for.
